Marathon... and new stats
So I did the marathon, just over a month ago now... it was really hard and i really think with out Ryan's help i simply would have finished! In the end I exceeded my aims and got in in less that 6 hours, only just.... 5hrs 58mins 34 sec!
Now I'm trying to keep up my fitness, and have a long term aim of maybe running another marathon in 2008, or starting to do sprint triathalons, for the short term I've entered the Wokingham half marathon, and Ryan has drawn up a new plan for me.
This weeks stats:
I have new set of scales... i'm not sure they are accurate... but this is what they said this week...
27 Sept 2006
So I've been rubbish at keeping up with this blog... luckily not so rubbish at keeping up the running. I feel like I've made a lot of progress, but with only 6 weeks to go, is it enough? After a few weeks of feeling a bit like an injury ruling me out from the marathon would not be the worst thing I'm feeling a lot more positive.
I'm a bit of a gadget horder, bugt i've got a new one that plugs into my ipod and measures how far i'm running, and various other stats. I got this shortly after my last blog entry so i'm going to put in the details here. This isn't all the runs i've done, its a lot of the ones i've done outside of the gym, as in the gym the machine tells me how far i've gone!
Hi!
So I guess I should start by introducing myself, I'm 23, a recent graduate and at the moment, between jobs. I applied rather rashly for the marathon in March, but have been very lax in getting into training. I tried to motivate myself but couldn't keep it up consistantly. So with 12 weeks to go I got in touch with Ryan. He's been very honest and has given me the reality check that I needed.
Like I said it was a bit of an impulse deciding to do the marathon, but I have always wanted to do one, and I love New York. Plus I'm raising money for an excellent charity. Macmillan Cancer Relief do amazing work for people suffering with cancer and their families. They offer practical and emotional support and were a great help when my grandmother was ill with cancer a few years ago. You can find out more info about Macmillan and also sponsor my marathon running at www.justgiving.com/katesc
