Hi!
So I guess I should start by introducing myself, I'm 23, a recent graduate and at the moment, between jobs. I applied rather rashly for the marathon in March, but have been very lax in getting into training. I tried to motivate myself but couldn't keep it up consistantly. So with 12 weeks to go I got in touch with Ryan. He's been very honest and has given me the reality check that I needed.
Like I said it was a bit of an impulse deciding to do the marathon, but I have always wanted to do one, and I love New York. Plus I'm raising money for an excellent charity. Macmillan Cancer Relief do amazing work for people suffering with cancer and their families. They offer practical and emotional support and were a great help when my grandmother was ill with cancer a few years ago. You can find out more info about Macmillan and also sponsor my marathon running at www.justgiving.com/katesc
I had my first proper session with Ryan this time last week, when I did 7km on the treadmill. I felt quite good afterwards, and quite proud of myself. Ryan had done all the fitness tests the week before and lets just say I've got a lot of work to do!
Thursday I was due to do about 5 km which although I was feeling under the weather I did it, complaining all the way but I think I racked up the kilometres. I'm going to be whining all the way round those 26.2 miles in New York, I can tell!
The weekend hit with a vengence, and as I finished my job on Thursday I had a big weekend of partying... its the last time I promise! But that meant that I missed Sundays session, with the help of a friend I made Saturday's run but Sunday's 10Km was missed.
I went to the gym today and did the 10km, was tired from the weekend and did more walking than i would have liked but was only about 5mins behind my 7km time from last week and did the 10km in about 1hr20, not great but I figure at least I did it.
I'll be doing todays run tomorrow. Dont forget to have a look on my sponsorship website, the money goes to a fantastic cause please sponsor me with what you can... www.justgiving.com/katesc.
Thanks, check back soon and I'll keep you updated on how I'm doing. I'm off on holiday to France next week, its a chill out holiday so not too much partying, so hopefully I'll get the planned runs in.
