About me:
From an early age I’ve been involved in numerous sports and have been always conscious that I need a well-balanced training schedule to support these activities. Having passed the age of 40 this has become even more important and I strive to improve my fitness levels year-on year. In more recent years I have achieved this mainly through running & rowing activities. I am also a current member of Pangbourne Cricket Club, having re-ignited my passion for playing the sport after a break of over 20 years!
In April 2006 I supported the Asics Reading Half Marathon by participating as a pacemaker, helping a number of my clients and regular running club members complete their first ever 13 mile competitive event. This turned out to be more rewarding than competing in the event myself. Running has consistently been at the core of my training throughout my life. It’s not only a very functional activity but also based in the great outdoors.
Phil's sessions with me are thoroughly enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable and pushes me as hard as possible whilst still accepting my personal limitations. He has helped me to set and achieve goals. I would recommend him wholeheartedly. Penny |
I regularly compete in local & national indoor rowing championships and coach fellow rowers to participate in the same events who often set personal best times in the process. Recently, I assisted a 70+ year old lady athlete shatter the British indoor rowing mile record by over 30 seconds (quite a remarkable achievement). I find indoor rowing a challenging activity that compliments my running by providing an impact-free environment, allowing my body time to recover from the effects of running whilst still providing an effective workout. It’s also a great medium for setting specific achievable goals which I believe should form the basis of any effective training programme.

Phil has an ability to set realistic and achievable targets that are nevertheless challenging. His key skills are the way he designs programs that make them attainable without being a chore, by grounding them in the "real world" of the client and keeping it interesting by introducing variety. The only exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions, running down their friends, side-stepping responsibility, and pushing their luck! - Unknown Author
